    JANINA FALKOWSKA, PROFESSOR Professor Janina Falkowska teaches East-Central European and Western European cinemas at the Department of Film Studies, the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. She has published extensively on Polish and East-Central European cinemas in journals and books related to Eastern and Central Europe. At present, Professor Falkowska is working on three new projects, one of which deals with the issues of the cinema of migration, another one with melancholia in film and the third one which deals with the interpretations of European cinemas in the context of Bakhtin’s notions of carnivalesque. She has also initiated a series of conferences about small cinemas in Europe and elsewhere in the world and has edited and contributed to two anthologies about small cinemas.
