  • Good Muslim

The article by Abdulateef Al-Mulhim “Being a good Muslim” (Sept. 3) was very nice. In his own simple way, the writer as usual has explained an important issue very effectively. I agree with the views expressed by Al-Mulhim. It is true that it is very simple to be a good Muslim. Islam is a simple religion, which these good-for-nothing people are trying to hijack.
However, it is not easy to hijack Islam. Various groups in the history of Islam have made similar attempts but failed miserably. These people will meet the same fate. We Muslims should hold on to the rope of Islam tightly and should not give in to the pressure from such groups. I also urge the mainstream western media to refrain from calling them Muslims because the majority of Muslims across the world have rejected these elements. They should only be referred to as terrorists, not Islamist terrorists, as Islam and terrorism are two entirely different things. By doing so, the West would be doing a great service to restore global and regional peace.
I also take the opportunity to condemn the brutal people operating as the Islamic State (IS). They are either fools who have no idea what Islam is all about or acting on the whims and wishes of some forces that want to malign Islam and Muslims for their diabol

Now, let's be frank and say that things can go wrong between two neighboring countries. But, what about two countries 8 thousand miles apart with a different culture, a different point of view on religion, a different point of view on family values, different history and different governing style? I mean, what can possibly go wrong between two countries like Saudi Arabia and Canada?

My story of and about Canada started at a very early stage of my life. It started in when I was only 14 years old when I studied and learned about Canada in our geography classes in preparatory school.

But, as for myself, I had to learn more about Canada. At the time, I was one of 5 students selected to represent our school to take part in a yearlong competition between schools in my hometown.

The tournament was very important to our school because the final qui
