About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering established in the year 1984 offers one Bachelor Programme in the stream of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and one Post Graduate Programme in the stream of Embedded Systems Technologies. The UG and PG Programme’s curriculum and syllabus are periodically reviewed/re-framed in pace with global scenario in the domain of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Our Bachelor Programme curriculum comprises major thrust areas like Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives, Power Systems, Embedded Systems. Few of the Government funded Projects successfully implemented are MODROB-Modernization of Electrical Machines Laboratory, Grid Connected 200kW Solar Power Station on C & E Blocks roof top and Grid Connected 50kW Solar Power Station on B Block rooftop. The smart classroom and laboratory facilities provides supportive environment for the students and faculty members. The well-structured curriculum and proper placement training help the students to place in government and private sectors.

Sharmila Tagore delivers Ray Memorial Lecture
Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Archives celebrated the 97th birth anniversary of the master director at Satyajit Ray Auditorium, ICCR, Kolkata at 28 April 2018. Smt. Sharmila Tagore, the distinguished actress who played the female lead in as many as five Ray films, delivered the Annual Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture. She also launched Travails with The Alien, a book by Satyajit Ray published by Harpercollins Publishers in association with Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Archives. Besides, she had a conversation with Shantanu Ray Choudhuri, Managing Editor of Harpercollins Publishers, on her association with Ray, and took questions from the audience.
A slice of hitherto undocumented cinema history, Travails with The Alien, includes Ray’s detailed essay on the project with the full script of The Alien, as well as the short story on which the screenplay was based. These, presented alongside correspondence between Ray and Peter Sellers, Arthur C Clarke, Marlon Brando, Hollywood producers who showed interest, and a fascinating essay by the young student at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism who broke the Spielberg story, make the book a rare and compelling read on science fictio
