Isaiah Thomas został nazwany po byłym graczu Detroit Pistons, rozgrywającym Isiah Thomasie (legendzie NBA) po tym, jack jego ojciec, James założył się z kolegą, że jego ulubiona drużyna Los Angeles Lakers pokona Metropolis Pistons w finałach 1989[1].
