Mr James Heneghan was born on 8 th March 1938. During the course of his working life, he was exposed to respirable asbestos fibres and dust. In November 2011 Mr Heneghan began to develop symptoms of adenocarcinoma of the lung, and a diagnosis to that effect was made in early 2012. He died from the disease on 3 rd January 2013.
The deceased was employed by the six Defendants on a sequential basis between 1961 and 1974. There were earlier employers who have not been sued. Owing to the lack of available records, the precise dates of his various employments are unclear, but the parties are agreed that the deceased's exposure to asbestos over the course of his working life can be quantifi

Carl James Heneghan (born January 1968) is a British general practitioner physician, a clinical epidemiologist and a Fellow of Kellogg College.[1][2] He is the director of the University of Oxford'sCentre for Evidence-Based Medicine and former Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine.[3]
Heneghan is a Professor of Evidence-based medicine at the University of Oxford, NHS Urgent Care General Practitioner, and co-director of the Global Centre for Healthcare and Urbanisation.[4] Heneghan's work includes investigating the evidence for approval of drugs and devices, assessing health claims, and researching common presenting conditions in the community.[5] He has expertise in medical device regulations, diagnosis, screening and avoidable harms: including analyses of antiviral medication Tamiflu, acute respiratory infections and the transmission of SARs-CoV-2.[6][7][8]
